Its original location was adjacent to the museum, today it is located on front of the main square. For the construction of this beautiful church, one of the most beautiful of the high plateau (altiplano), was used adobe walls, ceiling chañar and Algarrobo (native trees from the area) and cactus, covered with mud and straw, for bonding Lama leather was used instead of nails. Inside is a beautiful sacred altar with polychrome figures.

For the exterior was built with thick adobe walls, three doors with beautiful arches, these dating from 1744.

In 1951 it was declared a national monument. All 28 and June 29 of each year, we celebrate the feast of St. Peter and St. Paul, patterns of people.

Today, with funding from the residents and tourists of San Pedro de Atacama, the church has been restored, repairing areas damaged by the years, and repainted white and illuminated at night.
