This tour takes you to one of the most amazing high plateau landscape. You should take the  route that takes you to the Jama border pass, in the Km 100 you will find the Pacana Monks and from here you can take an off road route de the Tara Cathedrals and Salt Lake.

ImageForms part of the Flamenco National Reserve, 100 kilometers from San Pedro de Atacama, at 4,300 meters above sea level. With a surface of 48 km2, it lies between fertile plains, rivers and lagoons, where it is common to see Atacamanean families shepherding llamas.

ImageHere you can find volcanic structures and wavy plains, and to the East of the Salar you can see the slopes caused by erosion.   The Pacana Guardians are a collection of huge rock pillars in different shapes molded by the wind. They stand out beautifully on the desert’s sand. You can also enjoy the splendor of the Farallón de Tara, a great stonewall carved by the wind in the shape of a sculpture.

As you continue on the Salar path, you reach the Tara Lagoon that forms part of the Flamenco National Reserve. It lies on a surface area of 3 to 25 km², depending on the time of year. It feeds from the Zapaleri River that runs 20 kilometers from Bolivia, ending its flow on the eastern side of the lagoon. The lagoon helps keep the flora and fauna of the area alive.
